CYBA

CYBA (Cytochrome B-245 Alpha Chain) is a gene that encodes a key component of the NADPH oxidase complex, which enables immune cells—particularly phagocytes—to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS). These ROS are essential for killing invading pathogens. Mutations in CYBA can impair this defence mechanism, leading to chronic granulomatous disease, a condition marked by recurrent infections.
