CFH

CFH (Complement Factor H): CFH is a gene that plays a key role in regulating the complement pathway, an important part of the body’s innate immune system. The complement system provides a rapid defence against microbial infections. CFH produces a protein that controls complement activity, helping to prevent damage to the body’s own cells. Mutations in the CFH gene are associated with diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome (aHUS), and certain kidney disorders. Studying CFH is essential for understanding these conditions and developing targeted therapies.
